Frida was born in Kishinev in 1920. During the World War II, she was evacuated to Saratov in Russia, but courageously volunteered to go to the front. Frida participated in the war and even reached Berlin with the Red Army. After the war she worked as a secretary-typist.

Her circumstances today are very difficult. A widow and with no children, Frida lives alone in a one-room apartment and is extremely lonely. Moreover, her health has deteriorated: she has cancer, as well as hypertension and cataracts. Frida's monthly pension is $33, of which $16 goes to cover housing costs.
Frida has been a Hesed Yehuda client since 1998. The only person who regularly visits this frail and lonely woman is her Hesed homecare worker. Hesed Yehuda makes sure that Frida receives a hot meal every day through its meals-on-wheels program and supplements these with a monthly food package. It also provides loans of medical equipment, medicines and medical consultations as well as laundry services.
Hesed Yehuda provides Frida with extra relief during the long cold winter months, such as fuel, warm clothing and blankets.
