Jewish Healthcare International (JHI) began working in the Republic of Moldova in 1999. Since then groups of physicians, nurses and medical officials from the USA and Israel have been visiting our country regularly. Priorities of the project successfully achieved during this period of time are as follows:

• Rendering help to the local Jewish welfare centers to create the infrastructure for providing medical services to the community
• Screening and medical consulting of the welfare centers’ clients
• Training for volunteers and professionals from both Jewish and non-Jewish organizations that cooperate with the local Jewish community
• Donation of medicines and medical equipment to the local medical institutions

JHI is successful because its goal is to develop and enhance the medical infrastructure in communities-in-need rather than simply "stick a band-aid" on the wound.
