The second candle of Chanuckah 5771 was lighted at the KJJC yard by the Israeli Cultural Center and at the Theatre Hall where the next meeting of the program “KEDEM Gathers Friends”. “Five years ago during Chanuckah another miracle took place in Kishinev – the KJJC started its work”, told Michael Finckel, JCC KEDEM Deputy Director, to over 70 guests among whom where the closest partners, volunteers and friends of the JCC. “It is very symbolic for us and we are sure that as the Chanuckah candles the light of our Jewish Home will illuminate the life of our community for many years.” “I feel myself as at home in the KEDEM walls”, confessed maestro Mihail Munitean, the People Artist of the USSR and the best opera singer of Moldova. “As soon as I receive invitation I hurry to come here and be with my friends.” Many warm words and wishes were said by the guests, many wonderful melodies in Hebrew, English, Moldovan, and Italian sounded at the soiree. Traditional sufganiyot on the tables and the light of Menorah on the scene made it a real Jewish family holiday.
