Cultural Partnership: We can do a Lot!

On May 27 by initiative of the JCC KEDEM a meeting with the main partners of the JCC took place. Such kind of forum took place for the first time gathering about 25 people representing at once Moldova state official structures (Ministry of Culture, Union of Composers, National Philharmonic, Municipal Dpt. of Education, Youth and Sports), foreign diplomatic missions (eight embassies were present), international NGOs (Peace Corps, JDC, UNESCO), business community (“Hendrix-Bail” company): 
Stella Harmelina, JCC Director, and Michael Finckel, JCC manager in finances and administration greeted the audience and told about the most successful experience in realizations joint projects of the last years. This impressive list included musical competition named after Zlata Tkach, concerts and festivals, Holocaust memorial programs, cycle of programs dedicated to Kishinev pogrom in 2013, Tolerance club activities and Museum projects.

The meeting was conducted in a homey atmosphere. 
Mrs. Motulaite, Ambassador of Lithuania in Moldova, underlined how important was for the Embassy to find such a reliable partner in organizing exhibitions dedicated to the history of Lithuania Jewish community.

Svetlana Bivol, national Philharmonic Director, expressively said about a series of very successful and attractive programs like Independence Day of Moldova live concerts, premiere of Shostakovich’ “Babyi Yar” during 110th anniversary of Kishinev pogrom, five held republican children’s musical competition. “We are working with KEDEM as a harmonious and well-coordinated duet!” she said.

Ms. Paola Albornoz, deputy chief mission of Swedish Embassy, told about another nice programs – participation and performing by Henrik Strindberg, modern Swedish composer in the festival of new Music and later in Holocaust Victims Memorial Day at KEDEM.

Then Irina Shihova, head of the JCC Museum of Moldova Jewish History, and Serghei Bakalov, representative of the JCC Tolerance club presented creative and new ideas for the joint future planning.

In the end during a buffet people exchanged impressions and there even appeared some plans…
Continuing the track JCC is going to distribute brief questionnaires on the themes that caused interest and meet in the start of the fall when all are planning the budget for 2015.
