JDC Working Visit: “To See Faces of Hope”

The JDC Resources Development Study Trip by professionals from the USA and Israel embraced first of all welfare direction of activities in Moldova. The group of 12 people visited Beltsy and Kishinev welfare organizations, Hesed and Jewish Family Service, made home visits and got briefings on the situation in the region in general and the Jewish community in particular.

Tour of the KJJC that included all the range of welfare programs for elderly and children as well as cultural programs run by the JCC was impressive.

WJR – Moldova Contacts: Mission 2030

During three days of October a new mission from WJR, one the most reliable and old partners of Moldova Jewish community, have visit our country. This time it was an early 30’s age group called WJR 2030 Mission accompanied by a crew for filming WJR’s Annual Fundraising Film. Members of the group are donors and belong to various WJR committees.

The program was intensive and diversified as always: they visited Hesed community welfare center in Rybnitsa and KJJC in Kishinev, made home visits to NES and Hesed clients, ‘Casa Noua’ project, met with participants of Vocational Training Program run jointly by WJR, ORT and Center of Training and Professional Development, and were briefed on the JDC and KJJC activities.

Our Partnership with Toronto Continues

During a whole week October 4-8 JCC Kedem hosted one of the most intensive and nice visit of the last several years. In the frames of Toronto-Kishinev partnership we received Ellen Cole, Miles Nadal JCC Executive Director, and her husband Mircea Popescu, who is originally from the neighbor Romania. The visit has become possible through support of the World JCC Association.

Goodbye, Friends!

For over three years a wonderful traditional Jewish family from USA stood in Moldova. Daria Fane worked at the USA Embassy in Moldova on position of the Head of Economic and Political Dpt., Rav Reuven Schlenker, her husband, and their two smart and fidgety kids Alexi and Bentsi.

During these years Daria and Reuven took part in all significant events of the local Jewish organizations – holidays of Purim and Pesach, Shavuot and Chanukah, days of Jerusalem and Israel, memorial days of Holocaust, they spoke on “Hevruta” sessions and inauguration of monuments on the places the Shoah tragedy in Moldova. And who will forget brilliant Reuven’s art exhibitions made in unique “Shiviti” manner.
